"The primary mission of the Codex Alimentarius is to ensure safe, good food for everyone, everywhere." This mission was accomplished by means of scientific research and investigation which then can be used to share information globally on various foods and food contaminants. For this reason the WTO recommended its food standards in the World Trade Organization Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement). Hence, "Codex Alimentarius- or the food code has become the global reference point for consumers, food producers and processors, national food control agencies and the international food trade."
The Bureau is a member of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. It serves as the ‘National Codex Contact Point (CCP), which manages a collection of Codex Standards and other FAO and WHO publications; and manages Codex activities and disseminates codex information at the national level.

"The IEC is the world's leading organization that prepares and publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies." The Technical Committees, Subcommittees and other subsidiary working groups carry out the development of IEC International Standards. Various technologies covered by the Standard includes: rotating machinery, power transmission, electric cables, equipment, semiconductors, integrated circuits, fibre optics, and other such like electrotechnologies.
In 2001 IEC launched an Affiliate Country Programme that globally reaches out to developing countries. 'The Programme offers such countries a form of participation in the IEC without the financial burden of actual membership, making full use of IEC 100% electronic environment.' Therefore through this programme ABBS becomes an affiliate member of the International Electrotechnical Commission.
