Dealing with the Quality Issue on Toilet Tissue

2015 - April - 09

In 2013, toilet tissue made it into the news with concerns about its bacterial load. Subsequently, the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) directed that the existing Toilet Tissue standard be revised to address relevant health, safety and quality issues, so that a minimum acceptable quality product is offered for sale in CARICOM Member States.

In response to the COTED directive the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) has submitted a draft standard - Paper, Board and Pulps-Toilet Tissue-Specification for comments. Comments submitted will be used to fine tune the requirements of the standard.

The Bureau of Standards is extending this opportunity to the general public of Antigua and Barbuda to participate in the standards development process by commenting on the proposed draft. The comments received by the Bureau will help determine the nation’s position on this standard.

Stakeholders and consumers are invited to peruse the linked draft standard (DCRS 51) and complete the associated comments form, (required) to provide you’re your comments on this standard.

All comments should be submitted to the Bureau

You are hereby kindly asked to submit your comments to the Bureau of Standards by the close of business on Monday 20th April, 2015. You must submit your comments in the appropriate format, as per the linked form, for them to be considered by the Technical Committee.
